K.E.Carmel School belongs to a CMI Group of Schools in Paschim-Banga. It draws inspiration from St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805-71), a visionary and social reformer of divine calibre, and the founder of two religious congregations among the St.Thomas Catholics in India, namely, the CMI (Carmelites of Mary Immaculate) for men and the CMC (Congregation of Mother of Carmel) for women. After his example, we have started more than 650 schools, 30 colleges and 8 Teachers Training Colleges in India(like Christ College, Bangalore, Jagdalpur, Irinjalakuda, Bhopal, KE College Mannanam, SH College) for educating socially useful citizens with a strong conviction that each one is a precious gift of God.
K.E.Carmel School has its motto: "TO PLANT AND NURTURE" and KECS stands for "value laden Kinship, Excellence and Character". Being aware that educational process is the most important human resource development, we open our institutions to all, irrespective of sex, caste, colour or faith. But we prefer Catholics, as members of our Minority Community and give them religious formation based on Gospel values while others are provided with moral and spiritual formation. For the integral development of our students we organize various curricular and co-curricular activities.
The CMI Missionary Fathers from Kerala (St.Joseph’s Province, Trivandrum) invest their best for the excellent formation of the next generation, as our contribution to the national development. Through our educational institutions we respond to the National need to prepare our youth to be socially responsible so that India becomes a Super power by the year 2020. Hence, we select and train committed teachers, who are with our students in their physical, intellectual, moral, cultural, aesthetic, emotional, spiritual and skill developments. We have been nurturing them with our rich experience in education for the past 180 years upholding the age old spiritual traditions of India and of the St.Thomas Christians of Apostolic origin.
Hence we pay attention in forming leaders who are intellectually competent, spiritually mature, morally upright, psychologically integrated, physically healthy, socially acceptable and God-loving, who will champion the cause of justice, love, truth and peace, and who are ever open to further growth. The secret of our success in education is a community of teachers who are committed to their vocation, professionally competent, morally upright, just and humane in dealings, and who grow with the nation in the right vision of development. We aspire towards creating a just and humane society where dignity of a person is respected, unjust social structures are challenged, our cultural heritage of ahimsa, secularism, religious harmony and national integration are upheld and where the poor and marginalized are specially attended to.
